Stephanie Bowman, Principal
Dear Almor West Parents and Students,
It is with great excitement that I introduce myself, Stephanie Bowman, as the new principal of Almor West Elementary School. I am honored to have been selected to join Almor West, a school known throughout the district for great academic achievement and parental involvement. This level of excellence did not happen by chance. It is the result of a partnership between the school staff and parents who have made student achievement their number one priority. During my first week here, I have witnessed a sense of urgency to do what is right for the children by all stakeholders.
My passion and dedication to education began 13 years ago, when I began working at my sons’ school in Hawaii, Mokapu Elementary, as a parent volunteer and later as a substitute teacher and Title I Math tutor. The military brought our family to Lawton, 11 years ago. I have been given many opportunities in Lawton Public Schools to grow and learn as an educator. I’ve taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades at Geronimo Road, Sullivan Village, and Freedom Elementary. I was selected to work as a district Instructional Coach, supporting teachers throughout LPS; helping them to develop their practice and learn new instructional strategies. Additionally, I worked at Central Middle School, as a Multimedia Instructor and Yearbook Advisor. I gained invaluable leadership experience at my last position as Assistant Principal at Pat Henry.
My education includes a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland, a Master’s in Elementary Education and another Master’s in Educational Leadership, both from Cameron University. My experiences and education have given me a solid understanding of what elementary students need in order to be successful throughout their careers as students, as well as given me the knowledge of how to support educators as they carry out the most important job of developing young minds.
As a mom of two boys, ages 18 and 19, child advocacy has always been a priority in my life. My goal as Principal of Almor West is to be an advocate for your child by ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment that will allow them to reach their fullest potential. This will be accomplished by working alongside the phenomenal team of educators at Almor West and building a partnership with the families to further your child’s education.
I am humbled and most appreciative of the opportunity presented to me to become a member of this amazing educational family. I look forward to building new relationships with the Almor West staff, students, families and community members.
