Weekly Folders
In the weekly folder you will find their “My Day” sheet. The “My Day Sheet.” will tell you how your child’s day went, and if they have any unfinished class work. I will send the folders home every day except for Fridays, please check and sign your initials on the line provided for you daily in the “My Day sheet.” This is a way to keep up with your child’s behavior and their academic progress. It is also a form of communication between you and I, so please make sure your child has a folder as part as their supplies.

Birthday and Celebrations
Due to our busy schedule, I would prefer that you do not plan your child’s party for the classroom. However, I would be more than happy to pass out cupcakes/juice boxes during our lunchtime. Please do not send anything that has to be cut, dished, poured into cups, or put on ice. Any flowers or balloons, etc. that are sent to the school are held in the office until the end of the day. If you plan to pass out invitation for your child's birthday party, please invite every student otherwise, invitations are not allowed to be passed in my class.

We are only allowed to have two school parties. We have a party at Christmas and on Valentine’s Day. We do not have a party on the last day of school.

Scheduling Appointments
If you need to make an appointment for your child the best time for them to be scheduled in order to make sure that your child does not miss a lot of the new learning is from 8:00 -9:30, 11:10 -1:00, or after 2p.m. (remember 3rd grade is a testing grade). |
Safety First! I am sorry, but I do not heat lunch for students, or do I allow them to use the microwave in class. Sorry, if this is an inconvenience, but I rather be safe than sorry. If you are going to eat lunch with your child it is our school policy to have lunch at the auditorium to ensure that your time with your child is undivided and our class routine is not disrupted.

|
Class Room Visitors/VolunteersVisitors, you are welcome to visit our class anytime you wish however, please keep in mind that third grade is a testing grade and I would like to avoid any interruptions to the learning, so please consider our schedule.
If you wish to volunteer your time, please let me know in advance, so I can have the resources available for you.

Homework
I do not assign homework, the only homework your
child has is what he or she did not finish in class. It is their responsibility
to return it back to me, so please encourage them by checking daily for any
unfinished assignments. Students will take a copy of their spelling list home
every Monday; spelling tests are on Fridays.

A Note to My Students'
Welcome to Intermediate!!
Dear Student;
I am so excited to have you in my class. You have been selected to be part of one of the most exciting, creative, energetic, and dramatic fun class in the world. So get ready to experience a year full of exciting learning.
I hope you like to read because we will be reading a lot. If you do not like to read, I promise you that before the year is over you will love to read. You will never pick up a book again and see it as just a boring book. You will see it as a world you can travel too. |

Now please keep in mind that I never said third grade was going to be easy; I just said it’s going to be a lot of fun. In third grade, you will learn many things. Some of the things you will learn is how to write in cursive, read for understanding, multiply, divide, geometry, and even solve fraction problems. It's definitely going to be different than second grade because you no longer are primary, you are now an intermediate student. You are with the big boys and girls. So be ready because third grade will be a challenge, but with my guidance you will succeed. |

| I am sure you have heard that it is also a testing grade. Well, yes, that is true. In third grade, you will have to take one of the biggest tests you have ever taken so far. However, no need to worry, I will teach you everything you need to know so you can do well on your test. All I ask of you is to come ready to learn. |

Well now that you know a little about what to expect in third grade, I cannot wait to meet you. Relax; I'll let you in on a little secret "I am also excited and nervous to meet you too."
See you soon!
Sincerely,
Your New Third Grade Teacher,
Mrs. Jones
